Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) The Bahrain Model for Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion (EDIP) is a full package approach organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism. The EDIP program aims at supporting entrepreneurs convert their ideas into existing businesses and extend added value services to existing MSMEs to grow and expand; this is done through a series of non-financial services. 
The EDIP Program consists of 5 steps; 
 

  • Preparation & Empowerment; is a capacity building program aimed at developing the entrepreneur’s business skills and at the same time develop linkages with the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Bahrain.

  • Counseling & Technology Tie-up possibly leading to a full-fledged Joint Venture; a vigorous follow-up mechanism to provide business counseling with the ultimate objective of facilitating project implementation.

  • Financial Linkages; Appropriate financial linkages in Bahrain are identified based on the project requirements and entrepreneurs’ investment capacity.

  • Virtual Incubation; The entrepreneur begins implementing the project outside the business incubator and continuous counselling support is provided to ensure smooth operations and achieve sustainable growth.

  • Post Incubation and Growth; After a period of time from the establishment of the project, a set of administrative, financial and technological services are provided, which aim to achieve sustainable growth.

Business Licensing System (SIJILAT) is an advanced electronic system that is highly qualified in the registration and licensing of commercial establishments in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and full connectivity with all electronic systems of the relevant government entities. ​

Mall.bh

Mall.bh initiative is one of the initiatives of the eCommerce national plan, which the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism worked on to create an eCommerce ecosystem. Mall.bh is an online platform that includes the licensed eCommerce businesses classified by the business activity considering the following conditions where the company or establishment should have an existing eCommerce website or mobile application and provides one or more online payment methods and delivery services. 
Available Services

  • Register eStores whether they are websites or mobile applications, classified according to the appropriate classification.
  • Register eMarketplace service providers: These eMarketplaces providers allow commercial companies and establishments to display products on eMarketplace website that provides ePayment and delivery services with a specified commission.
  • Register eCommerce solution providers: eCommerce solution providers provide services for creating and developing eStores for commercial companies and establishments that want to practice eCommerce through a website or a mobile application.
  • Register logistics service providers: logistics service providers provide delivery services for commercial companies and establishments that need to deliver products to consumers after ordering from the eStore.
  • Register ePayment providers: ePayment providers provide appropriate ePayment methods for eStores.

Business incubators and accelerators provide support services to entrepreneurs and startups for a specific incubation period, such as joint work areas, guidance, mentoring, marketing, business planning, finance, and public relations.

Made In Bahrain

“Made in Bahrain” is a trademark granted by MOICT to all licensed and registered national factories that achieve 35% or more of the local content in their products, which is the amount of domestic participation in any of the following essential production factors:

  • Rentals, financing, sales and distribution costs.
  • Fixed assets consumption.
  • Imported and domestic raw materials.
  • Administrative expenses, and other expenditure.

 


This Mark is given to catalyze Bahraini industry through supporting local production and bringing consumers closer to the National product, in addition to benefiting from the advantages offered by some other entities like Export Bahrain, Tamkeen and Hypermarkets. The Mark is aiming to diversifying income sources and heightening the contribution of non-oil sectors in the National Economy and supporting the National products by instilling three main principles: fairness, sustainability and competitiveness which result in promoting the National product in the local, regional and international markets and encouraging factories to produce premium products of high quality and value. According to the policies, to grant a one-year mark the factory should hold an active license and industrial registration where such term should be in line with the entity’s industrial registration validity.

Tender Board

Tender Board was established in 2002 as per the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, as the supervising entity of the government's sales and procurements.

The Board is keen on creating equal opportunities for the all participating parties in the development of the economy, through adopting a fair, impartial and transparent mechanism, in line with Bahrain Vision 2030, which aims to achieve economic sustainability, justice and competitivity. In compatibility with the government's commitment to digital transformation in providing services, Tender Board has endeavored to facilitate the tenders process through its website (www.tenderboard.gov.bh), which is considered the integrated central platform for all information related to government tenders, as it is a key and comprehensive reference for contractors and suppliers to obtain all the information related to tenders, and to learn the procedures required by each tender and to submit bids and open them online.

Small and Medium Enterprises have the advantage of 10% when presenting a "Small and Medium Enterprise Classification Certificate" while submitting their bids to government tenders, which can be obtained by registering in the Small and Medium Enterprises Register of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The Board continuously strives to respond to the comments and inquiries of contractors and suppliers, as well as their suggestions, requests for reconsideration and their complaints in accordance with the highest level of integrity, equality, transparency and customer service.

Export Bahrain

Export Bahrain is the Kingdom’s first dedicated platform and the national export development and internationalization support arm of Bahrain that was launched in November 2018, under the purview of the SME Development Board as part of a national effort to support SME business expansion and international growth. Export Bahrain acts as a local partner to all businesses, creating a successful roadmap for exporting to reinforce the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a strategic global export hub, and an international trade partner.

Export Bahrain’s key mission is to promote, nurture and accelerate the growth of local businesses, products and services made in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and enable exporters to take on more challenging, high-growth export markets.

Export Bahrain developed a diversified portfolio of services such as export credit insurance, access to global data and actionable market intelligence, export facilitations, export shipping and logistics, e-commerce support, international retail buyer support and many more.

Export Bahrain’s objectives are to deliver tangible value and results to exporters through the creation of a broad network of key partnerships and channels locally and internationally to get export businesses on the road to growth and map the way forward for a successful exporting journey.

Export & Development of products & services

Custom Affairs aims to develop its corporation with several government agencies and business sectors in order to keep improving the effectiveness of its performance. Based on the signing of the Service Level Agreement between Customs Affairs and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Customs Affairs are planning to clarify the services that will be offered to small and medium enterprises, which are represented through training programs in Customs Regulations, such as unified customs law, customs tariffs, Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), pre-clearance, Customs procedures, public warehousing services, and Customs restrictions and Other Government Organization, as well as the educational programs about the role of Customs brokers and role of shipping companies and couriers, how to benefit from Free Trade Agreement, along with educating companies about facilities provided by Customs to compliant companies.
