H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce met with Michael Hager, Director of the Council of the European Commissioner for Trade, on the sidelines of the Seventh GCC-EU Business Forum.
The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the European Union, and ways to enhance cooperation mechanisms, where the Minister praised the distinguished relations between the two sides, and their common keenness to strengthen ties and expand areas of cooperation.
The Minister also referred to the magnitude of efforts to organize this business forum, which resulted in a number of recommendations in support of the goals and aspirations aimed at promoting a sustainable and diversified economy.

H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce received in his office Ambassador of New Zealand to the Kingdom of Bahrain Barney Riley residing in Riyadh, where they reviewed and discussed a number of topics of common interest, including the latest developments in the free trade agreement between the GCC and New Zealand.
During the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Commerce stressed the friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and New Zealand, pointing to the Kingdom's commitment to develop these relations, especially in the commercial sector.
Fakhro also referred to the investment environment in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the advantages and facilities it offers to investors from all over the world, in addition to its economic openness aimed at localizing investments and making the Kingdom a global investment hub.
For his part, H.E. Barney Riley hailed New Zealand-Bahrain relations, praising the efforts made towards strengthening the bonds of cooperation, and looking forward to continuing the approach of development and prosperity to achieve common visions and interests.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced that businesses in all governorates will be exempted from promotional campaign fees during the month of December, coinciding with the Kingdom's celebrations of the National Day. The sales and promotional campaigns period will also extend from December 1, 2023 to the end of the year.
The Assistant Undersecretary of Domestic and Foreign Trade, Shaikh Hamad bin Salman Al Khalifa affirmed the Ministry's commitment to continue to launch initiatives and programs that further promote public-private partnerships and economic development.
He added that this national initiative aims to include entities and enterprises, especially within the commercial sector, in the Kingdom's festivities, as well as increase the number consumers visiting commercial avenues during that time.

During his official visit to the Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, met with Mr. Zheng Shanjie, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission in China, where they discussed several topics of common interest to open new horizons for cooperation within the framework of the (Road and Belt MoU), which enhances economic development and prosperity for both countries.
During the meeting, a cooperation program was signed aimed at enhancing trade and investment exchange and consolidating economic ties between the two sides, following the previously signed (Road and Belt MoU).
Moreover, the Minister praised the joint coordination paths between Bahrain and China, stressing the importance of strengthening economic relations and exchanging bilateral experiences in industry and trade, considering China's extensive experience in this field, noting that the economic Belt and Road initiative is a great investment opportunity to enhance international trade and economic development.
For his part, Mr. Zheng Shanjie, Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission in China, welcomed the signing of the cooperation program, expressing his country's readiness to enhance economic cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain and support its efforts in achieving sustainable development and enhancing economic stability.
During his official visit to the republic of China, H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce visited Huawei Technologies headquarters in Shenzhen City, as part of a series of visits conducted to pioneering Chinese establishments.
The Minister toured Huawei's headquarters and was briefed on the latest technologies and innovative solutions offered by the company. Several meetings were also held with senior company officials to discuss future cooperation opportunities in multiple fields, including developing technology infrastructure and promoting digital technology.

On the sidelines of the official visit to The Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, participated in the Opening Ceremony of the China-GCC Cooperation Forum, in the presence of their Excellencies GCC ministers of commerce and H.E. Mr. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce of the People's Republic of China.
His Excellency Mr. Fakhro delivered a speech on the occasion of the Bahraini delegation's participation in the work of the forum, which in turn widens horizons of bilateral economic cooperation.
The Forum rounded several axes. The first sub- forum discussed green development and digital economy, while the second discussed industrial investment and financial cooperation, with the aim of uncovering the consensus of the China-GCC summit for the year 2022 and exploring new directions and opportunities for cooperation in related fields.
