Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed R. Alzayani, met with the Chairman of Bahrain Technology Companies Society (BTEC) in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary of Control and Resources Mr. Abdulaziz Mohamed Alashraaf.
Minister Alzayani highlighted the positive results of the Kingdom's participation in the World Conference on Innovation and Technology for the second time, following an invitation by the Chief Minister of Penang Malaysia, Chow Kon Yeow.
He affirmed that the gained experience will contribute to the advancement of the role of e-commerce, innovation and technology in the Kingdom.
The Minister stressed the Government of Bahrain's commitment to reinforce its position in this vital sector, highlighting the benefits provided to attract global investors, including its geographical location, flexible economic policies, and supportive legislation.
BTEC chairman Tariq Fakhro stated that the Kingdom's participation in this global event for the second year highlights the extent of development achieved by Information and Communication Technologies in Bahrain.
In 2021 four Bahraini institutions won the "Global Alliance for Information Technology and Services (WITSA) awards for excellence in the field of technology.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce Zayed R. Alzayani, met with the Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Samir Abdullah Nass, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the most important developments in the industrial and commercial sectors in the Kingdom.
Minister Alzayani expressed the Ministry's commitment to strengthen public private partnerships, to achieve the set development goals as per the adopted strategies.
He affirmed that the BCCI plays an important role in enhancing Bahrain's economy and contributing to raising the private sector's contribution to the GDP.
On the sidelines of launching the first Bahraini-Omani Perfume Exhibition, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Mr. Zayed R. Al-Zayani, received today the President of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association, Radina bint Amer bin Mohammed Al-Hajriya. In the presence of Association member MP Ammar Al- Bannay, and a number of other members.
The Minister greeted the President of the Association, wishing the members best of luck in achieving their visions and goals, praising these events that contribute to the economic development of both countries, and affirmed the Ministry's keenness to enhance joint coordination and cooperation in the interest of both countries and people.
H.E. Minister Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, accompanied by the President of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association, , Radina bint Amer bin Mohammed Al-Hajriya and members of the Society, took a tour around Bahrain Exports, where the President was briefed on the services provided by Bahrain Exports following the government's directions to provide everything that would enhance the Bahrain's development, Al-Hajriya listened to a detailed explanation from the Bahrain Exports CEO, Ms. Safa A. Khaliq, on the most prominent achievements of the Center since its establishment and the distinctive services and efforts provided throughout this period reflected in the indicators, resulting in the empowerment and success of a number of Bahraini SMEs to export their products to regional and global markets
H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, affirmed Bahrain's keenness to enrich investment opportunities and build strategic cooperation to achieve sustainable development goals, by supporting and adopting projects that enhance local economy, such as the conference and exhibition industry and seeking to attract many international and regional exhibitions to make Bahrain a high standard global exhibition center.
This came during the opening ceremony of the first Bahraini-Omani Perfume Exhibition, under H.E's patronage. H.E. was greeted by number of GCC and Arab Ambassadors. The event is held in the Avenues Mall and organized by the Zari International Consulting and Exhibitions Company and the Bahraini-Omani Friendship Society, with the participation of a wide selection of local and regional Perfume companies and specialists.
Moreover, H.E. witnessed the launch ceremony of the Bahraini-Omani Friendship Society, in a step to increase joint coordination between both countries. Noting the deep historical relations that bind both countries, and their governments' keenness to maintain and strengthen these ties.
The Minister and attendees toured the exhibition and listened to a detailed explanation by CEO of Zari International Consulting and Exhibitions Ms. Zahra Baqer about the importance of the exhibition which takes place between 1st and 3rd September, and its expected gains. As well as the events surrounding it. The event hosts 20 participants from Bahrain, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Kuwait.
H.E. was also briefed on the future project of the Bahrain Virtual Museum, the first of its kind in the world, a project that relies on virtual reality to achieve strategic objectives in various fields in Bahrain, especially education, tourism and e-commerce, supporting development in accordance with 2030 Vision, and keeping pace with digital transformation and current technological development and communication. Which in turn increases the demand for experts in the field of modern technologies, including research, training and empowerment of youth for future jobs in collaboration with the government.
H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, received Mr. Khalid Al Saeed, Head of the Bahrain Diving Volunteer Team (BDVT) and a number of team members.
The Minister greeted the team, congratulating them on the second anniversary of their establishment, praising their efforts in spreading the culture of diving and volunteer work and reviving national heritage, raising awareness of the importance of preserving marine wealth, as well as preparing studies related to the environment and organizing events, programs and festivals that contribute to reviving the history of diving and preserving marine environment.
The Minister was awarded the Honorary Presidency of the (BDVT), in recognition of his contributions in supporting the team and diving in Bahrain.
H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, received at his office this morning Mr. Khaled El Mekwad, on the occasion of his appointment as UN Resident Coordinator in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, the Minister congratulated Mr. Khaled El Mekwad on his new position, stressing the keenness of the Kingdom of Bahrain to strengthen its partnerships with various UN organizations in order to achieve sustainable development goals.
H.E. extended his wishes for Mr. Khaled El Mekwad to achieve success in all the tasks entrusted to him.
H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry and Commerce, received at his office this morning US Ambassador to Bahrain Steven C Bondy, in the presence of Ministry Undersecretary Ms. Eman Ahmed Al Doseri.
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the strength and depth of Bahraini-American relations, noting the importance of the role of the FTA signed by both countries in strengthening and widening the scope of economic and commercial relations.
The Minister also pointed to the great role played by the private sector in both countries to benefit from the of the FTA, expanding the base of cooperation between them in all fields. As well as discussing other topics of mutual interest.
H.E. Ms. Eman Ahmed AlDoseri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, extended her congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, on the occasion of the twenty-first anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women.
The Undersecretary noted that this occasion is a reminder of the achievements over the past two decades under the patronage of His Royal Majesty the king, and the continuous support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the Supreme Council for Women headed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women, which contributed to enhancing the position of Bahraini women in various fields, and achieving more gains in the national development.
H.E. Undersecretary praised the achievements of the Supreme Council for Women in enhancing the role of Bahraini women in the local and global spectrum, noting the complementary relationship between the council and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, which enabled women to fill leadership positions and enjoy qualitative opportunities within the ministry.
Moreover, the Undersecretary praised the distinctive role of Bahraini women within all departments of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, and the impact of this role in upgrading the industrial and commercial sector and providing integrated and sustainable industrial and commercial services within the framework of the Ministry's strategic plans.
