H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce inaugurated the Global Entrepreneurship Conference, organized by the Bahrain Entrepreneurship Foundation, between the fifth and sixth of February, at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay.
H.E. the Minister affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's support to entrepreneurs and SMEs development, adding that the Kingdom is keen to keep pace with the latest developments in the field of entrepreneurship, and to strengthen partnership between the public and private sectors to achieve the goals of Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, indicating that the SMEs Development Council was formed with a plan based on five main pillars that facilitate the access of startups and SMEs to the necessary support and access to markets, by simplifying the business environment, developing skills, and promoting innovation with a total of 43 approved initiatives, up to 20 initiatives of which have been implemented so far.
For her part, Mrs. Feryal Abdulla Nass, Bahrain Entrepreneurship Foundation Chairman, stressed that this conference aims to achieve sustainability growth for SMEs, stressing the need for concerted national efforts, promoting a culture of creativity and innovation, and exchanging experiences in economic affairs, in a way that contributes to the development of the economy.
The Conference will include a first panel discussion with H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, H.E. Mr. Sameer Nass, BCCI Chairman, Mrs. Feryal Nass, Bahrain Entrepreneurship Foundation Chairman and several high officials. Around investment, access to finance in the world of innovative startups, global women leaders, innovative and sustainable media entrepreneurship, innovation and business opportunities, and a strategic direction towards digitalization.
The conference will also feature a number of entrepreneurs and speakers from all over the world to discuss business developments and entrepreneurship, invest opportunities in this field, and identify challenges and how to overcome them.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce organized and held Bahrain Sports Day activities in the presence of H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, and a number of senior officials, invitees and employees of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
The events included many sports activities, medical examinations and medical awareness instructions to promote health and physical awareness and emphasize the importance of sports on general health.
His Excellency Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce, met with (MEDEF) President and Fives Group Chairman Mr. Frédéric Sanchez, in the presence of President of the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Bahrain Mr. Jean Christophe Durand, as part of his official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
During the meeting, the Minister praised the economic relations between Bahrain and France, crowned by joint economic agreements, noting the role of the French International Federation, in cooperation with the French Chamber, in supporting these relations.
Chamber members then gave an extensive explanation of the tasks and objectives of the International Federation and the French Chamber, and its role in enhancing French-Bahraini economic development, in addition to discussing and reviewing a number of topics of common interest.
Minister of Industry and Commerce, H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, received in his office this morning journalist Mr. Jamal Al-Yaqout, Director of Al-Jazeera Saudi newspaper.
During the meeting, the Minister praised Alyaqout's distinguished literary, and media works and contributions, as the latter presented H.E. the Minister with a copy of his book (The Beauty of the Word is Beauty), which includes excerpts from his autobiography.
Moreover, a number of topics related to the economic affairs of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the region were discussed, noting the importance and role of the media in promoting these aspects and supporting the economic development of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
Upon Execution Prosecution decision, the Ministry of Industry and Commerce destroyed confiscated expired foodstuffs in a case of selling adulterated goods.
On this regard, Assistant Undersecretary for Control and Resources, Mr. Abdulaziz Al Ashraf, stated that a complaint was received on a company selling foodstuffs after altering their expiration dates, and after verifying and investigating the complaint, the violation was monitored, and 3704 boxes of expired dates and date molasses were seized in 5 different locations.
Al-Ashraf added that the case was raised to Public Prosecution, where judicial rulings were issued against the violator to confiscate and destroy seized materials. The decision was implemented accordingly in coordination with specialists at the Askar landfill for waste management, at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.
The Undersecretary stressed that the Ministry of Industry and Commerce does not tolerate commercial fraud that affects people's security and health.
H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce received Thailand Ambassador to Bahrain Piyapak Sricharoen, in his office today to review bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
The Minister praised the progress of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Kingdom of Thailand, noting the importance of enhancing cooperation and joint work between the two friendly countries to develop economic partnership and achieve aspirations and goals.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his country's aspiration to develop bilateral cooperation to serve common interests, wishing the Kingdom of Bahrain continued prosperity.
HE Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce conducted an inspection visit to Aluminum Bahrain (ALBA), in the presence of Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), Shaikh Daij bin Salman bin Daij Al Khalifa, and the Chief Executive Officer of Alba, Ali Al Baqali, and a number of concerned officials. the Minister praised the influential role of industrial companies in the Kingdom in developing the infrastructure of the national economy, supporting the objectives of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026) and implementing the objectives of the comprehensive development process and Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.
HE the Minister affirmed that the launch of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026) as part of the economic recovery plan, promotes developing this promising sector in the Kingdom. Noting that the industrial sector strategy targets a number of industries that intersect with the industries targeted in the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development initiative between Bahrain, UAE, Egypt and Jordan, stating that: "We believe that this partnership provides opportunities for growth and prosperity, especially manufacturing industries in the aluminum and petrochemical sectors, in addition to clean industries represented in renewable energy and green and blue hydrogen, which supports the Kingdom's commitment in reaching zero neutrality by 2060, along with food, pharmaceutical, and microelectronics industries."
During the visit, HE toured the company and reviewed operations and progress of the sixth smelting line project, praising Alba's position as the largest aluminum smelter in the world
H.E. Minister of Industry and Commerce Mr. Abdullah bin Adel Fakhroo received in his office at the ministry today, German Ambassador to Bahrain Clemens Hach, in the presence of Sh. Hamad bin Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, Assistant Undersecretary for Domestic and Foreign Trade, where they discussed topics of common interest.
H.E. the Minister praised the depth and progress of relations between Bahrain and Germany, noting the keenness to support joint cooperation, especially in the commercial and economic sectors.
For his part, the Ambassador expressed his appreciation for the government's support in strengthening ties of cooperation and progressing relations.
