The Ministry of Industry and Commerce announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and memorandums of understanding with the European Patent Office, in the presence of H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce representing the Bahraini side, and Mr. Kim Wan ki, Commissioner of the Korea Intellectual Property Bureau representing the Korean side, and Mr. António Campinos, President of the European Patent Office representing the European side. 

This pioneering step is a new gain for the Kingdom of Bahrain in developing the patent and intellectual property sector, and it confirms Bahrain's position as a country that preserves and protects all kinds of intellectual property rights and patent rights, which contributes to increasing the flow of investments and benefits from the mutual experiences between the two sides to achieve more gains.

A memorandum of understanding on the patent prosecution highway program was signed between the Korean Intellectual Property Office in the Republic of Korea and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The MoU aims to accelerate the procedures for patent applications.

As well as a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation in the field of patents between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain (Patent Office) and the European Patent Office, this MoU aims to establish a mechanism to identify, direct and enhance cooperation activities between the two parties in the field of patents, in accordance with the competencies, responsibilities and procedures of each party, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit.

 

In addition to a memorandum of understanding on the pilot program for the fast track of patent examination between the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in the Kingdom of Bahrain (the Patent Office) and the European Patent Office. The MoU aims to implement a comprehensive pilot program for the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH), which allows applicants to apply for quick processing of corresponding applications covering the same invention.

HE Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce met with Ekaterina Priezzheva, the Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade in his office.
The Minister stressed the depth of relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, praising the joint efforts to enhance trade cooperation and exchange of experiences. Affirming the Ministry’s keenness to highlight the Kingdom’s position as an attractive global center for investments, thanks to the stimulating investment environment provided by the government, and the distinguished facilities provided to investors from around the world.
His Excellency also stressed the importance of the vital role played by the public and private sectors in the two countries to strengthen and develop partnerships in various fields. Noting the significant contributions of mutual visits and joint projects between businessmen in deepening and elevating economic relations.
The meeting also discussed bilateral investment cooperation and explored new opportunities to expand partnership, in order to support the achievement of the strategic and development visions of the two countries.

H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, affirmed support to the industrial sector as a priority sector in the kingdom, which significantly contributes to the development of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and provides quality opportunities for citizens.

This came during the visit of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Commerce to Amiri Industries Company in Salman Industrial City in Hidd, where he was received by Mr. Adel Amiri, Chairman of the Board of Directors and a number of senior officials of the factory.

His Excellency toured the factory and was briefed on the work progress, and listened to an explanation about the work mechanisms and stages of manufacturing and production.

Amiri Industries a highly distinguished company that earned consumer confidence by providing high quality products in the field of electrical panels and road poles and creating innovative electrical solutions, lamps and road safety products.

The opening ceremony of the 3rd Bahraini-Omani Products Exhibition was held in the presence of H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, H.E. Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, Bahraini Ambassador to Oman, H.E. Faisal bin Hareb bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Omani Ambassador to Bahrain, and a number of senior officials and stakeholders. Organized by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the Sultanate of Oman in cooperation with the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association at Al Dana Mall starting 7th to 11th of January. 

On this occasion, H.E. Fakhro, praised the historical relations between Bahrain and Oman. Affirming Bahrain’s commitment to enhance these relations and attain more strategic partnerships to achieve desired development goals and support the national economy, praising such distinguished initiatives that contribute to the enrichment of existing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister and Their Excellencies and attendees toured the exhibition, and received a detailed explanation about the importance of this exhibition and its expected gains as one of the outputs of the Bahraini-Omani Joint Committee, with the participation of a number of entrepreneurs and small and medium enterprises from both sides.

HE Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce received in his office Mr. A. K. M. Mohiuddin Kayes, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Bangladesh to Bahrain.

 

The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the positive developments they are witnessing in various fields, noting the importance of continuing to develop economic relations especially, in the interest of the two friendly countries and to achieve common goals and aspirations.

H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, praised the efforts of businessmen and investors in the restaurant sector in the Kingdom of Bahrain as they continue to expand business networks and open new branches, which contributes to the development of various commercial and service facilities that add distinct options to the public.

This came during the launch of several prominent fine dining restaurants, all part of the Armada Group, namely "Bait Al Jeder, Sisler and De Linos" at Bahrain City Center. In the presence of Armada Board members and a number of officials and stakeholders.

The Minister praised the restaurant’s range and services and hailed the efforts of the private sector and its continuous initiatives in strengthening the national economy, and offer new and diverse options to the public.

The restaurants "Bait Al Jeder, Sisler and De Linos" offer a multi-cuisine experience that combines Gulf, Arab and international cuisines, and is a subsidiary of Armada Group, which owns a variety of international shops in the Kingdom of Bahrain and the GCC.

H.E. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, honored the Information Systems Directorate team on the occasion of the outstanding results achieved by the Kingdom of Bahrain in the United Nations e-Government Report, which reflects the great efforts made by Bahrain’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce team and the Information and eGovernment Authority.

The Minister appreciated the key role of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communications Technology, headed by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Interior Minister, and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology. which contributed to achieving these distinguished results, as the Kingdom of Bahrain ranked 18th globally, advancing 36 ranks, and achieving the highest historical index.  His Excellency praised this international achievement, which highlights the efforts of the Government of Bahrain, and reflects the concerted efforts of government entities to achieve the best positions in the UN e-Government Report in line with Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 As part of the Government Program (2023-2026), which focuses on enhancing strategic planning and digital transformation by supporting efforts to digitize government services and transactions.

Moreover, His Excellency affirmed that the Ministry will continue efforts to score further achievements, and raise Bahrain’s position in global indicators, by adopting the latest digital solutions and emerging technologies to develop e-government services.

H.E. Mr. Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro Minister of Industry and Commerce stressed the depth of the historical economic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of India.

This came during a meeting between His Excellency the Minister and Mr. Vinod Kurian Jacob, Ambassador of India to Bahrain, where they discussed the positive initial results of the official participation in the Partnership Summit 2024 held in New Delhi, as well as a number of topics of common interest, hoping that such participations will contribute to supporting the achievement of ambitious economic cooperation visions between the two friendly countries.

For his part, the Ambassador hailed Bahrain’s efforts to consolidate joint relations and achieve mutual goals and aspirations.
