Green Factory Seal:
A program based on the pillars of the Industrial Sector Strategy (2022-2026) to promote sustainable manufacturing, support the Circular Carbon economy, and Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) by providing a set of benefits and incentives to its holders in cooperation with the private sector.
Green Factory Seal's Objectives:
- Supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to achieving net zero
- Encouraging the industrial sector to adopt solar energy solutions
- Spreading the culture of sustainability and green production in the industrial sector
- Applying the concepts of the circular carbon economy and environmental and social governance (ESG)
- Achieving sustainable development goals related to responsible production
- Motivating factories to adopt the best technologies and systems that contribute to reducing their carbon footprint
Green Factory Seal Criteria:
- Have an active Industrial License authorized by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce
- Reuses 10% of its industrial waste in its production processes
- Uses 10% renewable energy to power its industrial entity
- Owns a Carbon Capture unit
- Owns a system to calculate greenhouse gases (GHG - Greenhouse gases).
- Owns a system to monitor air and environmental pollutant emissions
- Implements environmental and social governance policies
Incentives for Green Factory Seal Holder:
- Financing: 5% reduction for financial loans on the applied margin from the National Bank of Bahrain (if the Industrial Entity's main account is registered with NBB)
- Operating: 10% discount on the total value of solar panels and installation cost from Solar One factory
- Exporting: 10% reduction on service fees for concessional exports through Bahrain Exports
- Training: 50% reduction on the cost of ESG training program from Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF)
